What the WhatsApp Business API is
It is Meta's official interface for businesses to use WhatsApp at scale. Instead of typing replies in the WhatsApp Business app, your software receives each incoming message through a webhook and replies through the API. Meta hosts it as the WhatsApp Cloud API, and Business Solution Providers (BSPs) such as 360dialog, Gupshup and Twilio offer it too.
What you can do with it
Run a chatbot that answers 24/7, share one number across a whole team, send order and appointment notifications, show product catalogs, collect payments through links, and connect WhatsApp to your CRM, website or billing software. None of that is possible with the regular app on one phone.
How to get access
You need a Meta Business portfolio, a phone number that is not already registered on a WhatsApp app (or one you migrate), and a display name that matches your business. On AnjokWA Bot you paste the phone number ID, WhatsApp Business Account ID and access token from Meta, copy our callback URL into Meta, and your number is live. The software is free.
What it costs
Access to the Cloud API itself has no fee from Meta. Meta charges for template messages you send (marketing, utility and authentication), priced by category and by the recipient's country. Replies to customers inside the 24-hour customer service window are not charged. We do not add any markup — Meta bills you directly.
The rules to know
Customers must opt in to receive messages from you. Outside the 24-hour window you can only send pre-approved templates. Quality matters: if many people block or report you, Meta lowers your sending limits. Following these rules keeps your number healthy.
AnjokWA Bot is free forever — your own WhatsApp number, unlimited chatbots and seats. Want it done for you? Our experts can help (paid).
Frequently asked questions
Is the WhatsApp Business API free?
Using Meta's Cloud API has no access fee, and AnjokWA Bot is free. Meta charges only for template messages; service replies within 24 hours of a customer message are free.
Can I use my existing WhatsApp number?
Yes, a number on the WhatsApp Business app can be migrated to the API. Check Meta's current rules on using the same number in the app and the API at the same time before you migrate.
